So you want to Elope! Follow these tips to ensure your day is as special as possible.

DO  – Hire a Photographer

Just because you are eloping in an intimate ceremony doesn’t mean you have to skip on capturing the beautiful moment. The Old Courthouse and Downtown Evansville offer tons of gorgeous architecture within the building and just a few steps away. Take advantage of the amazing urban setting and spend an hour or two with a great local photographer that can record your elopement and your unique personalities.

Many local wedding photographers specialize in photographing couples and events at the Old Courthouse. Several even have their offices located in the Old Courthouse and would be happy to talk with you more about capturing your ceremony.

Here is a list of recommended photographers:

DO – Dress the Part

Elopements are fun so dress the part. Weather you love the idea of a retro tea-length white dress, have been dreaming of a ballgown and rhinestone encrusted stilettos, or want to go all out with a dapper hat, bow-tie and snazzy patterned jacket – you do you.

It’s your big day, so wear the dress or suit of your dreams! In fact, Elopements are known for couples who dress for themselves and don’t worry about anyone else’s expectations of their attire. Be creative, be fun and most of all, be beautiful.

DO – Plan an After-Elopement Celebration

Weather it is a small brunch with your parents or a 40 person dinner with your friends and family, take time to celebrate your marriage and share the joy with the people most important to you.

Downtown Evansville offers many unique restaurant options to reserve a table or a room.
